Engineer « Liquid Propulsion CFD computation »


A job offer for an engineer in a Space Propulsion Engineer is available at the CNES-Launchers Directorate for duration of 18 months. 

The holder will be in charge of subs-system CFD development and analysis. His attributions will cover: • Turbomachines CFD activities The CFD tool will be ANANAS. The main objectives are: o Identification of modelling limitation, proposition and implementation of CFD method improvement if any. In that frame, the holder will work closely with LEMMA the software editor of ANANAS. o Performance of CFD analysis in the frame of Liquid propulsion engine Demonstrators development program. • Thrust chambers and gas generators CFD activities : o FLUENT analysis dedicated to combustion chambers and gaz generators; o CPS-C validation activities – the objective is the validation of CH4 combustion implementation for the specifics conditions of space applications. o CPS-C analysis in the frame of Liquid propulsion engine demonstrator development program. He (she) will work closely with the turbomachines and the thrust chamber specialists who are in charge of equipment in development.

SPECIFIC CONDITIONS: Short term travels in Europe may be possible.

JOB BEGINNING DATE: As soon as possible.

Desired profile

Engineer or equivalent with strong knowledge in Fluid Mechanics, energetics, and CFD (Fluent, CPS-C, ANANAS, OpenFOAM, Salomé, Paraview, hypermesh, Tecplot, etc…).

Necessary skills

Autonomy - Dynamism - Good spirit of initiative and synthesis, - Strength of proposal - Good relationship and ability to communicate LANGUAGES: French is essential, english usefull.

Structure description

Propulsion Equipment and Mechanism Department (EPM). Within the technical sub-directorate of CNES Launcher Directorate (CNES/DLA/SDT), the Propulsion Equipment and Mecanism Department is in charge of conception, design and development of: - Pyrotechnics systems, - All main components for liquid propulsion engines: turbomachines, thrust chambers, gas generators, valves, pressure regulator etc…) - Solid propulsion stages.
